What to wear to your first body massage

Going from work to your first body massage? Here’s how to choose an outfit for the trip and ask what you can keep on during your appointment.

Wear something you’ll be comfortable putting back on afterwards. A soft top, trousers with an easy waistband and slip-on shoes are practical if you’re heading straight home. If you’re coming from work, your usual clothes are fine for the journey. Pack a change if you’d prefer something more comfortable for the rest of your day.

Think about what you’re doing afterwards

If you’re going back to the office, you might bring a spare top or keep a cardigan in your bag. YUNARA’s 60-minute Back & Leg Massage uses oil. If you’d rather save a delicate garment for another day, a washable top is an easy choice.

If you wear a necklace, watch or other jewellery you may want to take off, tuck a small pouch in your bag so you’ll know where to find it afterwards.

Ask about clothing for your chosen treatment

What you keep on during the appointment depends on the area being massaged and what you feel comfortable with. If you have a preference about a garment or an area you’d like covered, bring it up before booking so you can decide whether the treatment suits you.

For a back treatment, you could ask, “I’d like to keep my top on. Would this treatment work for me?” For a leg treatment, you might ask, “What should I wear, and how will I be covered?”

If you’ve already booked, ask when you arrive, before you change. It’s fine to take a moment to decide what you’re comfortable with.

Getting ready to leave
